Thoth -Queen of Swords

Ritual: Invoking Freyja through the Queen of Swords
A ritual of clarity, sovereignty, and transformation
This ritual will connect you to the Queen of Swords archetype through Freyja’s essence, allowing you to cut away illusions, claim your independence, and embrace wisdom. It blends Hermetic Qabalistic principles with Norse Seiðr influences, making it a potent fusion of Western High Magick and Norse sorcery.
Preparation: Altar Setup
On your altar or ritual space, place:
- Thoth Tarot’s Queen of Swords card (center of altar)
- A silver or white candle (symbolizing the air element and lunar wisdom)
- A small bowl of ice or snow (representing Freyja’s connection to winter)
- A small mirror (to reflect self-truth and insight)
- A sharp knife, athame, or ritual sword (symbolizing cutting through illusion)
- A raven or falcon feather (optional, symbolizing Freyja’s shape-shifting powers)
- An offering of mead, honey, or amber
Step 1: Opening the Ritual – The Breath of Winter
- Stand in a comfortable stance and take three deep breaths.
- As you inhale, visualize a cold winter wind entering your lungs, clearing your thoughts.
- As you exhale, release all doubt, deception, and illusion from your mind.
- Light the silver or white candle, saying:
"By the wisdom of air, by the winds of truth, I call forth the Queen of Swords within me."
Step 2: Invocation of Freyja – Mistress of Seiðr and Truth
Hold the Tarot card of the Queen of Swords in your hands and gaze into it. Let the imagery sink into your subconscious. Then, recite:
"Lady of the Valkyries, Mistress of Seiðr,
Freyja, who walks between love and war,
Queen of the Fallen, Queen of the Wise,
Grant me the sight to know what is true,
And the strength to sever what no longer serves."
Place the card before you and pour a libation of mead, honey, or amber-infused water as an offering to Freyja.
Step 3: The Mirror of Truth
- Take the mirror and hold it before you.
- Look into your own eyes and ask:
"What falsehoods must I release?"
"What wisdom is ready to emerge within me?" - Allow images, words, or emotions to surface.
- If something painful arises, acknowledge it and breathe deeply, letting the cold winter air cleanse it from you.
Step 4: The Severance – Cutting Away Illusions
- Pick up the knife, athame, or ritual sword.
- Say:
"By the blade of truth, I sever illusions."
"By the wisdom of the Queen, I stand in clarity." - With one decisive motion, make a cutting gesture through the air—as if slicing away old fears, falsehoods, or outdated beliefs.
- Take a piece of paper and write down what you are letting go of (fears, illusions, relationships, or self-deception).
- Burn the paper in a fire-safe dish or candle flame, watching the illusion dissolve.
Step 5: The Breath of Freyja – Claiming Sovereignty
- Close your eyes and visualize Freyja in her falcon cloak, standing in a snowy landscape.
- She hands you a sword, symbolizing your own wisdom and power.
- See yourself wearing her cloak, standing tall, ready to face the world with clarity.
- Whisper:
"I walk with Freyja. I walk with truth. I walk with wisdom."
Step 6: Closing the Ritual
- Thank Freyja:
"Hail Freyja, Lady of the Valkyries. May your wisdom guide me." - Blow out the candle, knowing the Queen of Swords’ energy now resides within you.
- Dispose of the offering respectfully.
Post-Ritual Practice: Integrating the Queen of Swords’ Energy
- Keep the Queen of Swords card on your altar for 3 days.
- If you receive dreams, signs, or insights—write them down.
- If you need further clarity, perform divination (Tarot, Runes, or Scrying).
- Actively cut away things in your life that no longer serve you.
