Laying Down the Swords
. Below is a ritual titled “Laying Down the Swords: A Rite of Lunar Release and Inner Alignment”, designed to harmonize Anima and Animus, clear mental impasse, and initiate Gnosis over belief at the liminal threshold of the Two of Swords. This is best performed under a full moon or within a circle of silver/white candlelight to invoke lunar clarity and subconscious healing.
A Ritual of Inner Reconciliation and the Release of Mental Armoring
🌕 Purpose:
To symbolically and energetically release the crossed will and mental impasse associated with the Two of Swords, healing the inner conflict between reason and intuition (Animus and Anima), and opening the heart-space for Gnosis, clarity, and peace.
Items Required
Two ceremonial blades or ritual daggers (or two swords/sword replicas)
A white cloth or lunar-embroidered veil
One white candle (representing the Moon)
A silver chalice filled with moon water or spring water
Tarot Card: Two of Swords (Archeon or Rider-Waite-Smith)
Optional: blue rose petals or blue silk
Bell or singing bowl
Preparatory Invocation (To be spoken aloud as the ritual circle is cast)
“By the Silver Gate of Luna, I now enter the threshold of deep knowing.
Let all deception fall away,
Let all illusion fade in this reflected light.
I stand between the swords—no longer divided.
I call upon the Great Sophia, the Divine Wisdom,
And I invoke the lunar current to illuminate the heart.”
Light the white candle and place the Two of Swords card before it. Gaze into the card, breathing in through the nose, out through the mouth. Let the tension in your body rise into awareness—then offer it up to the flame.
Step One: The Crossing of the Swords
Hold both swords in a crossed position in front of your heart, arms like the figure in the card.
Say aloud:
“Here I hold the swords of my divided self—
The blade of thought and the blade of fear,
The sword of reason and the sword of intuition,
The sacred opposites, too long at war.”
Pause. Feel the weight of what you carry in silence. Visualize all inner conflict as tension between these swords.
Step Two: The Unbinding
Place the blades gently upon the altar or floor before you in a V shape, point facing away—symbolizing the release of inner tension and the creation of an open path forward.
Cover the swords with the white cloth or veil.
Say aloud:
“No longer shall these blades defend the illusion of separation.
I lay them down at the feet of the Great Mother,
And in their place, I embrace the wisdom of the open heart.”
Ring the bell or sound the bowl.
Step Three: The Chalice of Peace
Take the silver chalice in both hands and hold it over your heart.
Say:
“As I lay down the sword, I take up the chalice.
As I release the need to battle myself,
I make room for what is true.”
Drink the water slowly and with full awareness.
Step Four: The Gnostic Affirmation
Hold your hands palm-outward in the Hermetic Thunderbolt posture.
Declare:
“I Am the harmony of Wisdom and Will.
I no longer choose belief without sight,
Nor doubt without proof.
I choose Gnosis—I choose to Know.
The swords are laid down. The Way is open.
So let it be.”
Step Five: Closing the Gate
Snuff the candle, retrieve the card, and place it beneath your pillow or within your grimoire for integration.
“The Moon has witnessed my vow.
The heart is no longer blindfolded.
I walk forward in sacred clarity.”

Sigil of inner peace and Gnosis.
